Dakle dragi moji, imam za seminar škotsku umjetnost kasnog i zrelog srednjega vijeka. Ako imate bilo kakva saznanja o tome, makar bilo u crticama, share with me please, jer literature je slabo, a izvori s neta spominju tek dvorce i poneku utvrdu.

S wikipedije na temu "Scottish art":

The Middle Ages in Scotland did not produce a native religious art. The country’s poverty and obscurity combined with the eclipse of the Celtic church with the reforms of St Margaret of Scotland and her children left behind only the rather provincial products of the borrowed styles of Norman and International Gothic. Though the cathedrals of St Magnus, Orkney and Glasgow deserve honourable mentions.

    Dakle tough luck

Bedenka...

"...consecrated in 1113, it is a fine example of Anglo-Norman architecture of the early 12th century. It is the first English building to be rib-vaulted throughout. It has a nave and aisles, a widely projecting transept with east aisles, and a very deep choir, which ended in three apses, the axial apse being larger than the lateral ones (the apses have since been replaced by an east transept). The nave has a three-storey elevation: large arcades, wide quadrant-vaulted tribunes whose bays are divided by a central column, and a clerestory gallery." (uguglaj Durham cathedral da vidiš kak to zgleda iznutra).

"...the nave is divided from the aisles by powerful piers flanked by engaged semi-columns. The originality of the supports is their wealth of ornament: the heavy cylindrical piers are cowered with incised diamonds, flutings and chevrons, which extend to the arches of the arcades and the vaulting ribs."

    Glasgow cathedral (Romanika pa Gotika):

"A new Romanesque stone church was dedicated on the same site (as the earlier wooden one) in 1136 by Bishop Jhon Achaius in the pressence of King David I, who also comissioned the Borders abbeys (and doomed his successors and indeed his country to a chronic shortage of funds). In 1175, burgh status was conferred on this market town and bishop's residence, which consisted of no more than two streets - roughly, today's High Street and Arygle Street.

The Cathedral in its present, Gothic form was completed in the 15th century, with Provand's Lordship forming part of complex. Just down the road, the original University, the 'Old College', was founded in 1451, and so Glasgow became a seat of religion and learnign, but never of the nobility or the military..."

St Andrews Cathedral, Fife (danas je to ruševina, originalno romanička crkva):

"In the Middle Ages, St Andrews was Scotland's premier cathedral city and a major pilgrimage place. Its great cathedral was the largest church in the land, and the archbishop place (located nearby on a shore cliff) amongst the strongest of fortresses."

    Edinburgh Catsle:
"...stands on the site of a 340-milion-year-old volcano, occupied by man since the Bronze Age. By the latter Middle Ages, it had become Scotland's premier royal castle housing the national records, the royal artillery and the Crown, Sceptre and Sword of State."
